Last night on BBC news I heard this amazing story of an Italian man who was a member of the Sicilian mafia and was suspected to be the head of the Corleonesi. His name is Bernardo Provenzano.
After 43 years of evasion, he was captured by the cops on April 11th 2006. Provenzano had been a fugitive from the law ever since his indictment for murder in 1963 and it is theorized that he has been on the run longer than any other criminal to date. The only known photos of him were taken during the 1950s. The authorities had been 'close' to capturing him for the past 10 years.
Well.. anyhow ... they got him in the end. And he didn't offer any resistance. The man from Corleone. Wow.. there should be a Brando in here somewhere.
His file photo and computer generated image to aid the police are shown below --
