Malls have now become hosting grounds for a number of brands all under one roof. It's like heaven for enthu shoppers. Get in there, window shop for hours and then buy a couple of items you really need and head home. Ahhh... the good life.
This morning I went across to the Infinity Mall @ Andheri, and went straight to the Food Bazaar on the first floor. It's got everything .
The electronic weighing machines are the ones to watch out for, as I happened to notice today.
The plastic pouches that we carry the fruits + veggies in have their own weight, which adds to the cumulative total. After buying my stuff, I placed only an empty bag onto the weighing panel and it measured 16 grams. So 1.6 % of the weight (assuming a kilo) that we spend on is nothing actually. Just plain plastic. So we're charged a rupee or two more for something that we dont really need. It's not a big deal in terms of needless expense but I was more concerned about the transparency of the process being implemented.
At the fruits counter, the attendant thought me and my dad were talking crap when we tried to show him what was wrong. However at the veggies counter, the man understood the problem and immediately went to convey the same to his peer at the fruit section.
To eradicate the problem, all one had to do was to place an empty plastic pouch on the scale and reset the measured quantity to zero. That would have "fooled" the machine into thinking that the plastic is not to be accounted for -- a dead weight in short. Problem solved.

All hail the plastic bag crusader. :D
Way to go molman. All one has to do is point out the error and they will have to correct it.
