Spanking New Old Transmissions

There is a new GD album out. It's called Transmissions.

VH mentioned it to me earlier today. The official site had nothing on it, surprisingly. Maybe I need to check multiple sites hereon, to get complete information.

So it's got these 22 (old) songs put on the CD in - live versions, radio snippets and the studio recordings too. There are a handful of videos too if I'm not mistaken.

Weird. I can't figure out why they did this. Probably to capitalise on the fan base built up from the American Idiot success. In fact, I think that's probably it. These days the Planet M stores have been stocking the "Oldies Goldies" records of the band - 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy hours and even Kerplunk!. Aggressive selling. All of a sudden. Around 3 years back, the band was nowhere on the scene (in India that is) apart from some long time followers (ahem!).

I wonder what results would come through if a market research was done on the visibility of the band 4 years back and then compared it with the present. The cause for the surge in the demand for the band is obvious though. Attribute it all to Idiot(s) !
