I've decided to put the first thing that comes to mind when I'm naming these posts.
I'm getting impatient with blogs these days. My own, that is. I start off in express mode and the steam runs out well before the first paragraph is up. On many occasions, I find myself wanting to write about work and the interesting scenarios I'm facing throughout the week. But is it appropriate to write? It's too much to type. If I'm into something, I want to dive right in.
There's this new report in the Economist. Ok well, its new for me. It's actually dated back to Feb 20th but since I'm holding a print edition after 2 bloody months, I may as well spike this to a grand experience eh? All about the burgeoning middle class across the globe and what it means for us at this crucial time, when the economy as a whole looks pretty bleak. The deal with this 'newspaper' is you cant sit and read the whole thing at one go. It's heavy reading for the two paragraphs you go through. Then you have to sit back a bit, put things in place and you've drawn yourself a massive picture on the canvas using just 40-50 words. I immediately fired a text message to SG, telling him about the special report coverage. He responded with an affirmative. It's on his hit list too.
A few Sundays ago, we'd spoken at length about the brilliant inputs/learning we gained from this newspaper, each time we picked up a copy and put our heads to it. I told him of my love for the quarterly reports (especially the technology one) while he pitched in with few articles that had changed his outlook on things - from the price seesaw during the oil crisis to the science behind global warming. Somehow we couldn't appreciate enough, the classy work that these Economist chaps bring to our homes. Hats off once again to these Brits.
Now, this middle class needs to be understood. I'll go through it and SG has said he will too. A fortnight from now we'll be at the adda, discussing this voluminous report.
