Asterix & the Vikings : A Review

Those of you who have been hooked onto the Asterix comics and longed for a full motion video opportunity to come your way, make the most of it now.

Originally conceived in the comic as Asterix & the Normans, the modified storyline called for a title change to – Asterix & the Vikings. Chief Vitalstatistix receives a letter from his brother requesting him to foster his son Justforkix, who needs a little toughening up from the lazy city life. Vitalstatistix assigns this task to his two best warriors, Asterix & Obelix.
Enter the Vikings, a fearless bunch of oafs who’re hunting for someone who can teach them the meaning of fear as they hear ‘fear gives you wings’. After stumbling across Justforkix, they abduct him whilst our two favourite Gauls follow in hot pursuit. The film adds a new dimension with the Viking Chief Timandahaf’s daughter, who becomes a love interest for Justforkix.

The animation is smoothly crafted with perfectly cast voices for everyone. The evergreen episodes are well expressed – a Gaulish invasion of an unsuspecting nearby Roman camp, a good old village brawl and even the traditional banquet we love to see in every adventure.

Take a swig of that magic potion. The battle has begun.
