Tomorrow's papers may very well read things apart from the obvious. Forget who won. Forget who lost. That was a football game. But what in the world was Zinedine Zidane thinking?
Throughout the World Cup, I was hinged on the brilliant sportsmanship displayed by Zizou and trust me, I'm not at all the hardcore football follower. But in a horrid instance, all my hopes that were pinned on the star of the French team died. Zizou head butted Materazzi after a brief exchange of words and to be frank, I could'nt absorb what the replay had to show. I'm positive none of the Zizou fanatics could either.
Whatever it is, it left a big gaping hole in his fruitful career. And it's gonna stick with him for quite some time to come. For the fans, there'll be endless debates over his mindless act.
To me he'll still be the calm and composed individual who flared up on the most important evening of his career.

It's not an excuse, but I don't feel like it was unprovoked. I just hope that this incident doesn't put a black mark against his prolific career. He is still one of the greatest. Beyond a doubt.
Whether Materazzi tickled his nipples or held his cock or abused/provoked him a legendary player like Zidane cud and shud have not lost his temper...A gr8 player is one who lets his game do the talking and nothing else...

Zizou performed brilliantly on the most imp night of his career..the '98 World Cup final against Brazil..where no1 expected them to win... 2 headers..3-0...he will still be the god..
Secondly....it would do well for people like amit to actually realize the tension tht goes thru every player on such an important night...when u r on the pitch in such a high octane match...such philosphical expectations as mentioned by him look good only in post-match articles..Zizou has proven time and again what a player he is..
Becoz of this one incident any1 who deems him any less than great doesnt know what greatness is..the guy freakin delivered the WC to them in 98...came close to doing it again..was the best player in the world for 4 years..dont need critics like these to decide his greatness.
