A Narrow Miss

Uncanny.

It was only 3 days ago that I mentioned a reunion involving my Hongkong friends from yesteryear. That being on a virtual level mind you -- strictly online based.

Would I have ever dreamed of getting the chance to go back to Hongkong and meet them? That too in the coming week?

Well that's what happened. Here's how it all fit in --

My dad got an invitation from one of the companies he'd served earlier since they were celebrating their 25th year. The event is to be held on December 12th in Hongkong. This came as a sudden shock but a pleasant one, that of receiving the invite and getting an opportunity to visit HK. Alright, so Mom and Dad were required and ready to go but.. so was I !

I couldn't believe this was happening. It's been 10 long years since I saw that place. But the memories are fresh .. it was like I was there yesterday. Obviously things HAVE changed. Damn I'd love to go back to all the places that I still remember -- the schools I attended, the tram rides, the Peak, Cityplaza I and II, 7 - Eleven next to my place, the Mc Donalds next door where I spent lotsa time hogging !.... and many more.

We tried as hard we could to claim three return tickets but I guess time was against us. With barely 6 days to go, it was expecting a little too much. Also, with the festive season of Christmas approaching prices were sure to shoot sky high. And so they did.

For the time that it felt real... it was worth a million bucks. Just to go back there and have a solid bash with good old friends.
