Tighter and tighter. Thats the scene with the exam preparation schedule. Mayhem begins April 9th.
We had our Alumni Updation task to complete. Last evening, after a long drawn contemplation period, I went upstairs and started calling people. It went off smoothly maybe because I was the only one in the entire room and had no one to kill time with or get distracted. What I'm really happy about is my decision to stay back and do the work in the end. A small thing which can go a long way - I got to wish an alumnus on her birthday.
After getting home @ 10.30pm I took dinner and crashed almost immediately, sparing the odd half hour for an exciting SA vs Aus World Cup matchup. Too bad SA lost in the end. Aussies are crazy coots. Today I left for the institute at 8 AM and resumed the calling. It was my second batch that gave me a complete shocker.
A certain Umang Rathod from the Batch of 1995 mentioned his friend Samir Modi, who possibly held data of several alumni. After he told me that Samir was a Somaiya Engg graduate, it occured to me that this person was the same bloke I had been communicating with for the past year!
After having attended my Engg Reunion last June, ( I obviously had my camera there yes..) I sent a mail to the alumni website moderator telling him about my pictures. After a rally of emails, I discovered it was Samir Modi from Batch of 1992. He is based in the US now but has wholeheartedly lent his support and time to the development of the Engg Alumni Network.
I had even consulted him once for a plan concerning our Alumni Website, hopefully a project that will be completed in a few months time ( once we get the go ahead from the DG ).
I wonder how he'll react when he finds out I came across his mate from yesteryear...
