....is the famous tag line.
Thats right ! Dunkin' Donuts is on its way to India.
Dunkin' Brands Inc., is in discussions with potential Indian partners to come here and set up shop in the next 6 - 12 months. The company has annual sales of around $6.4 billion and 7300 outlets across the world. Of these, 5300 lie in the US alone. It sells 2.7 million cups of coffee a year day to Americans. Most of the sales are attributed to the take away segment.
Dunkin' is not completely new to India. Their Baskin Robbins brand has been around here for almost a decade. The company has spent the past two years doing research on the Indian market along with the current business models that generate demand. And Srinivas Kumar, VP of international business says they're interested in .."the wallets of the 250 million middle class households... not in the 1million who lead aspirational lifestyles and pay too much just to be seen at the coffee shop." Haha. I liked that last line.
Dunkin' Donuts understands the Indian market to be highly price sensitive. The menu will will have a mix of local coffees as well as the trademark Dunkin' Orginal Coffee, a higher end Arabica blend. This ensures consumers have something new to look forward to when entering the store.
Coffee is the no. 3 beverage in India after tea and milk. An Indian on an average, consumes 69 grams of coffee a year. Estimates say India will have over 1000 branded coffee outlets by 2008 and eventually 5000 in a few years.

I want chai outlet. So much for coffee. Coffee market is saturated now. You can only grow so much. CCD has a strangle hold. All these are only hang out places.
Some1 shud offer chai and hence be a niche provider. I am sure lotsa ppl will go and have t. Especially, since so many of the young generation are becoming health concious (i know i spelt that wrong). And wot the hell, u might see our mom and dad sittin in Chai Bar, someday. Coffee, no chance!
