The Information Age.

When an important change takes place (besides the fact that it could be for the better or worse), everyone must acknowledge it right ? Every citizen must be informed of it. Call it the ever popular acronym we know of - GK. Global awareness, a manager might say. An added input for the others. Something you didn't know.

Let's take a managerial perspective. In management, the only thing that remains constant is change. So businesses, leaders, organisations and its employees must move with the times. In some cases, way ahead of it ( eg - 3M, Apple to name a couple ).

An HR consultancy known as Emmay HR was acquired by a Swiss firm called Randstadt. This development was of course, crucial to the internal customers of the company. And why not for the external entities too ? As soon as the papers were signed and the round of handshakes were complete, the Emmay HR website had the new lines of code, highlighting the good news for investors and the like. Many a time, it's been observed that certain information like this which is so crucial to many is neglected or delayed. Now don't get me wrong.. remember that information is interpreted by various kinds of people in different ways. Some discard or discount it, while the same will be treasured by others. Varied absorption in short. What's important to realise is that the information must be presented. How and if one wishes to use it is another matter.

The other day I was browsing airline sites to book a few tickets for my summer project travel plan.
You know, all the low carriers - Air Deccan, GoAir, SpiceJet, Paramount and IndiGo. They have their respective layouts on the site with the pop-ups, the offers and the typical punchlines like - "India's best and cheapest low cost domestic carrier"...haha.

GoAir is the ONLY carrier to show Bangalore as the official Bengaluroo name in the drop down list of cities to choose from. The other carriers stuck to Bangalore. Now I don't know if these carriers like it that way or they forgot to tweak some lines of code. Or they don't care a damn.

In my opinion, it leaves a message to those who access their site saying --

"Hey... we're not with the times!"
