An aggregator concentrating on a specific item say - stamps, coins, coasters, shoes, bus tickets, shoes or even spoons from airlines ( I know someone who does that! ) always has his or her 'must have's ' in mind. When it comes to movies, there are 100's of titles vying for the "classic flick" category but I'm sure everyone would agree that Jurassic Park is top material for your collection.
The awe, thrill and magnitude ( entertainment too but that's obvious in this case) with which it left me gaping at the screen once more shows the power of Spielberg and his team's perception to ensure the audience marvels at the movie's content time and again. I remember watching it in the cinema back in 1993. Call it the best seat in the house but we had ourselves the 4th row from the screen, a real test for the neck as I experienced that day. Couple that with the terrific bellowing of a dozen dinosaurs with impulse attacks and panic stricken humans in unknown park interiors. The kitchen scene was the scariest one in my opinion. The thought of being in an enclosed space with two deadly carnivores smart enough to open doors and plan out co-ordinated attacks was just crazy.
Watching the making of the movie on the DVD is a great feature to have. No one can forget the way the T Rex was introduced into the movie - the vibrating plastic cup of water. But barely anyone knows how those ripples were created. The sound engineer after several attempts at collecting the right sounds, stumbled upon his guitar. He placed the cup on the strings and plucked the copper to produce the effect. For the movie itself, the underside of the jeep's dashboard was lined with guitar strings while a stuntman plucked them from underneath the car !!! And that is how we saw the ripples on the actual shot. The velociraptor cage, when first observed by Dr. Grant showed a cow being lowered into the danger zone. You remember the shrieks and growls the raptors made? And all you could see was leaves and plants rustling? Those sounds for the raptors was made by none other than... haha.. check this out.. SPIELBERG!
