IT Ain't Real

IT engineers.

The most overrated blokes of the entire technical lot. Armed with a vague bunch of digital languages, several of these graduates are unable to reproduce or elucidate the fundamentals of their stream. Many a time I (apart from many other friends, colleagues and relatives working in firms across the nation) have observed how IT engineers and their kind are completely oblivious to the real engineering world. It's all about codes, classes, pointers, or algorithms.

IT engineers merely provide a service. They have no foundational capabilities. Think of all the engineering feats to date - nothing figures on the IT list. It's only because of the offshore services or the BPO tags that numerous firms are ready to take on that we are seeing around 54% of our GDP attributed to the services sector. These guys provide smart access to remote things in quick time. They help communication across continents with a single click. Coupling of networks and tweaking of parameters to make things relate and update simultaneously. And so the onset of the IT boom.

Without IT engineers the world would surely be a slow paced factory but tell me.. without the core engineering fields would we survive?

you are kind of, stereotyping IT engineers here.

if you think IT isn't part of a core engineering field, i really think you should rethink your thoughts.

just spend one day without touching anything thats IT, and i will bow down and agree with your post.

think about it - your so called 'core' engineering fields would stagnate somewhere in 1990s if it wasn't for IT.

Honestly, knowing you, i dont know how you could conclude something like this.

I ain't saying the other fields are not core. I'm saying your allegation that IT isn't, is completely baseless.

Did you get into a fight with an IT guy recently?
