"You think we have a chance?"
"I dunno.. looks a little bleak to me."
As we picked up our bags and started making our way out of the seminar hall, the call-out for the shortlisted teams rang in our names. We stopped short in our tracks and broad smiles splashed across our faces. We'd made it to round 2.
I was never good at quizzing. I still suck at it. But I've begun toying with the idea of giving it a shot - whenever an opportunity knocks at the door. It's never too late to appreciate the value of knowing or having a solid inventory of knowledge or 'global gyaan' as some like to call it. At the end of the day you can always walk out, happy in the knowledge that you've picked up bits of trivia which could come in handy later.
We were probably the last ones to make it on the shortlist but we were more than thrilled to be included in the subsequent stage. Round 2 was a buzzer round. It was a lot better than the first round too. We didn't get much barring a handful. Out of the 5 teams competing, 3 gifted themselves a negative score for giving the wrong answer. That, as it turned out later, aided us in clinching a big lead. The rapid fire round saw us grab another winner.
Final score? 25. We beat the runners up by 15 points. KP and I were ecstatic. We needed to celebrate.
So 7 of us who walked down to Yadav Cold Drink house and satiated ourselves with a round of Masala Thums Up to commemorate the win.
