VFM Is The USP

Bembo's is a fast food chain established in 1988 in Peru. Apparently, India is its first stop outside the native region ! Anyway, forget all that. It's all about the food that counts. (Ok, experience too)

To start things off, there are two outlets in Mumbai. One at Nirmal Lifestyle and the other at SV Road, Bandra. Visibility for the Bandra outlet isn't that great, owing to a big tree rooted right in front of the entrance. So, it's on the main road but not the best of spots

Blue red and yellow are the dominant colours used in the decor. As such, it gives you a feel of the Mc Donalds environment only a lot less crowded.

The concept is similar to McD's but somehow I feel its better.

  • You place your order at the cash counter and only then will the employees prepare the burger et all as per the order. A combination of Made-To-Order (MTO) and Assemble-To-Order (ATO) tools. I mention MTO because some items like the Mutton Burger have additional add on options in store -- onions, tomatoes, cheese and herbs or something like that.
Food & Drink
  1. Burgers are HUGE. No kidding. I can recollect 2-3 Veg items, a mutton variety (with a choice of the works), and 2-3 Chicken types. Burgers are a lot wider in diameter than McD's, which also means they're more filling. More value too.
  2. Ice tea and the aerated forms are available... the one thing that I really appreciated is that they fill your cup upto the top. Without ice. I mean, who wants to pay for Coke that's topped with ice cubes? That kills the whole aerated effect doesn't it? I wonder why Mc Donalds has never pulled out from that move. And even if you ask McD servers to save you the icy topping, they make sure your Coke or Fanta stays at the level it would had there been ice dumped in the cup. Cheats.
  3. Bembo's has softees too. Nothing new really. But I think it's a way to associate itself to people who have a strong recall for Mc Donalds. A strategically placed poster of a Chocolate Sundae (Mc D style) is on the glass wall of its outlet. Our evoke set is sure to trigger off a "fast food joint" on seeing that picture. Anyway, it's getting hot these days. Tempting them with that picture is good enough.
  4. Sauces - remember that ketchup dispenser in Mc Donald's ? Bembo's has 3 sauces in totality -- Ketchup, Chilli and Mayo (eggless). Damn good. Options are always welcome.
Packaging

Very very important. Burgers are placed in this nice half french fries packet cum cone shaped paper packet. So from one end you can see the burger in its entirety and the other side is enclosed. I liked the idea. Generates a little curiosity for the guy sitting opposite.

Staff

Warm, friendly and all in all.. nothing to complain about.

Anyone looking for to munch on some Peruvian burgers? ----- I'm game.

The Veggies haven't exactly taken a liking to the burgers there but the non-veg bit taste much better than the Mcd pattice variety.

Btw if its ur treat, I am game.
