Sometimes you sit around with friends and you feel this irritation spur amongst even those who're supposed to be the gel-well kinds. It's there but you can't pinpoint it. An expression, a gesture, a word or two which is spoken out of place. But no will admit it.It's subtle in nature and it's never really directed at the person but if you happen to notice it you'll know what I'm talking about. It's weird. I feel it's a lot to do with the fact that during a course like an MBA, you're 'forced' to interact with people who are across a wide-ish age range. Right from 22 to somewhere around 30 I guess. That's super potential for conflicts.
He's too brash, she's too focussed and they're all a bunch of immature losers because they don't bunk lectures. More than such comments, it's the backbiting which kicks in the hardest. I never really understood why conflicts pop up in the most unexpected of situations - even when opinions are being shared for Gods sake! A few of my friends say ego plays a major role. I won't deny that but when did the question of ego come up when friends are around?..... once you're in an environment of individuals who're known to you then ego better take a back seat. No doubt about it.
The whole issue is that I've seen this crop up a number of times and there's no way I'm seeing the end of it. After all, this is exactly what an organisation is like -- hordes of people from various backgrounds who're made to mix with each other even if they don't like it because if the work has to be done.. there's no way you can avoid the process that gets you the result.
It only lasts for a bit though.. the whole friction part I mean. Lately, I've been seeing solid friction between a few individuals. It gets ugly and I can't blame anyone. Only those involved can do something for or against it and the rest can play the game. Sit back and watch. Even if gets terribly awkward at times.
There are low periods during this whole thing.. for everyone. For me too! And there's nothing like a few good songs to break away from the lapse.
What comes around.. well .. it goes around.
