Right....? Or is it left ?

This has happened to me on a number of occasions. Maybe its happened to you as well.

You're walking down the road and from the opposite end there's someone advancing in your direction. There's obviously a moment when both cross each other unless you suddenly realise that the shop you were looking for is across the road and two blocks behind. That crossing spot is my point of contention.
I deviate towards the right and pass the person. I suppose that the other party will do the same. Not quite though. There have been instances, [ which I'm sure have been most ridiculous a sight for a third person ] when there's a slight misunderstanding and the other person turns to the same side as yours. Ahh.. a collision indeed. After a brief exchange of apologies and shuffling of feet we're both back on track. I always thought [ and still do ] that moving to the right is the convention to be followed. Now and then, the odd pedestrian challenges this norm.

Now I'm a little hesitant with my choice of direction change. There's also an involuntary reduction in my walking speed as I see that guy drawing closer.

I liked this quite a bit, happens with me very often, primarily because people get scared about my height and get out of the way as soon as they can. That of course inevitably leads to confusion.

LOL :))
Hilarious man...I'm sure that happens to a lot of ppl, but I've sort of devised a way around it! Atleast for unruly cyclists (which can hurt quite a bit if they bang you), I just point to my left so he moves to the right and it works!

this happened with me and santa once...

i was in some mall, walking straight in the direction of my nose, suddenly it was right , left , right , left and then BANG ...

Poor santa fell down....

so a word of caution look whom u r planning to bang into, never bang into 6+ feet overgrown monster..

otherwise left and right , right and left its GOOD ;-)

Seeing such an encounter is much more hilarious..
Well,if u take the lead in such cases regarding the directions,it really helps...
