Ecstatic

Ahh.. finally. Sunday had arrived. I was to meet a friend yesterday. After a long time I might add. Which is when the two core commitees (Placement & Alumni) called for the interview rounds to be held on the same day. Oh darn! A long awaited weekend spent in college, making it 7 days a week. For this week anyway.I had only applied for the Placement Committee till I found out that the Alumni Committee held a Publications division too. What the hell I thought..... might as well give it a shot.

The PComm (thats the lingo!) rounds started off, candidates dressed in semi - formals and some in formals too. And there was I standing aloof with keds, sporting jeans and an Indian Air Force T shirt. Sheesh. It did feel kinda weird at the beginning. The seniors were taking good interviews centralised around the stress factor. Shoot a question at the candidate and before he/she can get midway through answering it, shoot another from the 2nd panelist. And the same follows for the 3rd interviewer. Smart stuff.

After all this razzmatazz, we turned our attention to the more traditional laid back (and certainly more welcoming from our side at least) AlComm (Alumni Committee) panels. Most of the dialogue comprised of general talk, hobbies, interests, improvisations regarding the alumni meet strategy... you know.. all that sorta thing. Having declared an inclination towards the publications dept. called for all relevant candidates to jot down two pieces -
  1. Editorial for the SIMSR mag... Imprints (which goes out to the Alumni)
  2. An abstract on the word Nostalgia (which also happens to be the name of the Alumni event)
After 25min of scratching heads, fumbling with pen and paper and the occasional mind freeze we had all handed in our papers for assessment.

Come today... we had a shortlisted list of students for both commitees. I had made it to both of them. One of four to do so. Felt damn good.
And now, I'm officially part of the Alumni Commitee. The authority in charge, Commander Sharma thought it best that I take up the AlComm post, after having gone through my CV and matching the profile required.

I couldnt have asked for more. I had had a choice in my hands. That was the best part.
